ONE RIDER KILLED: ANOTHER INJURED
The January meeting of the Macao Jockey Club held at the Arela Preta Race Course on Sun- iday was marred by a serious ac- cident, as the result of which Mr. F. L. Marcal was seriously injured

The Jockeys on the following ponies were unable to pull up their mounts, or otherwise dodge the prostrate riders. with the result that Marcal was kicked on the face and Poon received a kjok in the head.
CONCUSSION
Both jockeys were immediately rushed to hospital where it was found that Poon was suffering from concussion-from which he Marcal subsequently, died-and from a nasty cut across his face. It is feared that Marcal night. bave received further injuries.
The late Mr. H. L. Poon took up riding, in Macao, only recently and was not registered with the Hong- kong Jockey Club. His last win was on Coureur Bleu in the. "Vic- toria Handicap" in the November meeting of the Macao Jockey Club.
