HER
An ARP worker walked into a London police station and, "It is alleged, 'confessed to strangling his 75-year-old mother.
"I did it to save her being dragged round to the shelters." The man. James M'ler, aged 45, of Durant-street. Bethnal Green, appeared on remand at Oid-street charged with murder- ing his mother, Ann Elizabeth Miller.
Miller, who pleaded not guilty! He had been taking his mother and reserved his defence, was sent to the tube or some other shelter for trial at the Old Balley.
Granting legal aid, -Mr. F. 0. Langley, the magistrate, re marked, "It is a strange case."
and had apparently been worried about her not getting any sleep.
On the night of October 17-18 Mrs. Miller went to a shelter with
Mr. H. A K. Morgan, prosecut-[two other sons, who took her back
