RECORD CROWD ATTEND RACE

MEETING AT KWANTI

Fanling Cup Won By Mr.

P. P. Botelho: Special Sweep

+

HELD IN IDEAL WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE DECEMBER MEETING OF THE FANLING BUNT AND RACE CLUB, at Kwanti, yesterday, was a success from the point of attendance and fine rae- log.

There was a record attendance, and the crowd was such as 'to upset all transportation arrangements as the number of carriages on the special train was absolutely inadeqante.

Hundreds of race-rgery what to Fanling by motor-cars and taxis rather than travel on the overcrowded train.

On prrival at Fapling, the puses ↑ were so few that the majority of those who went out by train walk- ed to the course. The return trip.. by train was worse, as two to three hundred racing fans were left stranded on the platform, there to cool their heels for 45 minutes as the special train was paciced to overcrowding and, those left behind had to return to Kowloon on the ordinary slow..train."

The arrangements, at the paying- out counters of the part-mutuel- both win and places-could be con- siderably improved, as ́ could also the service in these department. Successful punters had to wait as long as 40 minutes to collect their winnings, with the result that there were grumblings galore.
