have been acquainted with Mr. E.R. Michell, of the Harbour-Master's Department,

as his

Medical attendant since the

beginning of 1847, and during this period have frequently had occasion to treat him for attacks of illness. In September

and October 1852 Mr Michell

suffered much from

Severe

and

Remittent

again during April and May of the following year,

which last attack so far impaired his health that a temporary leave of absence from

the Colony

was considered necessary,
