RACE THREE:
From the rise of the barrier to the Rock it appeared as if Tarzan had the first prize money nicely tied up as it was, at least, three lengths ahead of Qulek Despatch and Winnie.
After passing the Rock Winnie parted company with Quick Des patch and started creeping up on the leader which it overhauled on entering the straight.
41
In the home run Winnie in- creased her lead to win by five length: from the much fancied Tarzan, with the favourite, Quick Despatch, another two lengths behind. Colorado Star, the third favourite, was fourth.
From the straight to the win-
ning post it was a battle between
Vanity Fair and Ascot Day, with Lancashire Chips a couple of lengths behind.'
When passing the Stands Vanity Fair gave a final spurt to run in winner “a... short head in front of Ascot Day with Lancashire Chips third, and Viceroy fourth.
Immediately after the race protest was, lodged against Vanity Fair for boring and bumping. This protest was sustained by the Stewards after an inquiry was held.
Vanity Fair was disqualified and the official result of the race
was
1st-Ascot Day
2nd-Laficashire Chips 3rd-Viceroy.
