The Military Authority in this Country objects to give the price demanded for these Remounts. The despatch communicating this decision was sent on the 10th of August. There has been sufficient time for all of the Writers being made acquainted by their agents in the Colony, and I question whether there can be any objection to its being Communicated to them.
I cannot at all understand this case. Messrs. Jameson say that "Edge's bungalow" is their property, and is used in the same manner as other property. If Government could comment for the "Use Kay" and so "prevent Messrs. Jameson from selling the property"? It looks as if they had only a qualified property subject to right of resumption. If you cannot answer this question, perhaps the Law Officers can give their opinion on this minute. I have shown their proposal to Sir Murdoch.
