CHEMICAL PRODUCTION IN CANADA SET UP A NEW RE- CORD LAST YEAR. The increase in value of output over 1938 was 7.7 per cent, while it was 5.7 per cent. above the previous record "established in 1937. It was also nearly fourteen per cent. higher than the value of production in 1929. Substantial in- creases over 1938 were reported in eleven of the thirteen indus- tries in which the group is classifed.
