THE AIR
BROADCAST TO PHILIPPINES
Hongkong's 40 "lucky men" went on the air from Z.B.W. last night 3/9/38 to tell their loved ones in Manila. how things were getting on here
in a bachelor world-how the cat had now four kittens and the canary no more ofis.
Forty men had thought out a variety of things to mention, but & generous, spirit brought into each man's minute before the "mike" 15/9/88 mention of other husbands who

All the "hubbles' spoke in com forting tones to their loved ones, wishing them a comfortable voyage to Australia and hoping for a re- unton soon.

Typical of many WAS who promised a "wonderful welcome
from the Aussies, some of the finest people in the world."
Many joked about domestic pro- blems that had fallen on to their own shoulders now and compra- dores came in for some ribbing.
KIND SPIRIT
The kind spirit with which the people of Manlis, had greeted the refugees from Hongkong was re- membered by many who spoke their gratitude across the sea, and specide acts of kindness were re- membered by special mention. One serviceman thanked a lady in Manila for having written him 10/2/36 that his wife had been

One proud father acknowledged six letters from his son and "no Krouse."
Mäng an infant came in for mention.
Entreaties to their absent fami- Mes to "keep their peckers up" were the order of the evening.
"It was good to hear you on Fri- day evening" was another message that went over the ether again
14/1/37 and again, leaving no doubt that. Friday's broadcast from Manila was deeply appreciated.
