CAIRO, July 21 (Reuter)—The Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Fleet, in a communique giving details of the sinking of the Italian cruiser Bartolomeo Colleoni, reveals that the Bartolomeo was another cruiser of the same class as that first sighted by destroyers north-west of Crete at shooi -1.30 a.. on July 19.

When H.MS. Sydney arrived in support about an hour later, the enemy altered its course to the south-west and endeavour- ed to escape.
"Our forces, however, made a determined attack and ac- curate fire from the Sydney caused vital hits on the Colleon! which reduced her speed, enabling our destroyers to complete her destruction."
The second cruiser was chased and hits were observed but her superior speed saved her from a similar fate.
