Mr Stous leaving this Country he

parted, at a considerable sacrifice,

with all his Property in this Colony,

believing that his employment was

for Life-

W. Store is still willing

to give his services and I therefore

support the application

on his

behalf,

either to continue him in an

appointment equal in rank to that

of which he has been deprived, or to

obtain for him a fair compensation

for the loss of Office.

Mr Sare informs

me that

several other officers of the Harbour

Department in Hong Kong

have been reduced as well as

himself,

and that all the others have been

provided for by appointments of

advanced remunerative posts.
