New Emphasis On Advocacy Of Stronger U.S. Defences

WASHINGTON, July 4" (Reater) ----The Senate Naval Affairs

·Committee has approved, by nine votes to five, the nomination of COL. FRANK KNÓX 25 Secretary for the Navy.

The Naval Committee's approval of Col. Knox's momination was given after he was questioned for a long time on the report that he favoured the dispatch of United States soldiers to Europe. It was a charge which he specifically denied. ".

Consideration of the nominations of Col. Knox and MR. H. L STIMSON (as, War Secretary) will probably be given by the Senate next week.
