The official German explanu- tion is that these waters were mined by Finland 'during the Soviet-Finnish war and that the mimes became frozen in the Ice but are now coming loose,

MONTHLY YIELD This tax, which will be levied as from the 1st of March next is computed to give a monthly yield of 2 million kr. It may be reduced, full exemption granted, partieular cases where its imposi- tion would cause hardship. A total of 11 million kr. is expected to ac- crue from these taxes during the current fiscal year.
However, the above-mentioned economies and the yield of the proposed taxes will only amount to 779 million kr.. so a further sum of 122.1 millions will have to be provided in order to meet the extraordinary appropriation for national defence,

IF FINLAND'S OUTPUT is taken into account, Scandinavia sup- plies the world with over 5,000,000 tons annually of wood-pulp and manufactured paper. This obviously is causing a serious shortage.
