This Bill relates to concession exclusivity to Eunciation pour France, though it would no doubt be in the power of the French Government to give it greater extension, and we presume that it is to this that the Foreign Office refers.
4. In regard to the remark of Sir J. Bowring that the British Ship "Carpentaria" is taking on board tea at Whampoa without authorisation from the Poet, we think it right to state that this vessel has not been chartered by us, nor is she in any way under our control, nor can we obtain any information on the subject.
