Jamaica, the people appear after landing to have been subjected to the most shocking cruelty. Many Emigrants have been at Whampoa, Fuzingmoon, and Macao. But Amoy appears to have been the head quarters of what we will call the Foreign Emigration. The overbearing conduct, however, of some European Merchants at that port led to dangerous tumult involving loss of life and have driven a good deal of the Emigration
