14,000 TONS OF CONTRABAND GOODS INTERCEPTED, DETAINED BY BRITAIN IN ONE WEEK

LONDON, Nov. 23 (BWS)-During the week ended Nov, 18. British Contraband Control intercepted and detained approxi- mately 14,000 tons of contraband goods suspected to be destined for Germany.

The total included 3,100 tons of petroleum products, 2,900 tons of cotton, 1,500 tons of oil-seeds and 1.100 tons of ores and metals.

The total contraband of 14,000 tons intercepted by Bri-,, tish Contraband Control, during the week-ended Nov. 18 brings the total volume, of goods de- tained during the first 13 weeks, of the war to 441,000 tons

During the same week the Con- traband Committee considered 131 new cases of ships and 74 cases outstanding from the previous week.

The combined total ̈ included ships of the following nationalities: | 50 Dutch, 30 British, 26 Norwegian. 23 Italian, 16 Swedish, 13 Greek. 12 Danish. 9 Belgian. 8 United States and 5 Yugoslav.

During this period one cargo was wholly seized and 114 cargoes were wholly released. In 20 cases, part of the cargoes were seized and the remaining items released.
