The week opened quietly and a little apprehensively, but after a short while this was succeeded by i buyers entering the market, though making their kids on lower and $1995 more cautions levels. Transactions 279
were not on any large scale and offerings becoming scarce, the en-i quiries dried up, the market re- lapsing to a state of lethargy. Paradoxically enough this lethargy has been alded by the attitude of holders. Undoubtedly there must be some timed holders about, but whatever selling orders may be on

PHILIPPINE GOLD MINING QUOTATIONS
COTTON: Good reports from foreign markets and good textile sales caused the market to open upward, but prices thereafter eased on hedge-selling, realising and lack of demand.
RUBBER: Lower Singapore and London advices caused an early decline, which was later off-set by good trade and speculative buy- ing combined with the favourable consumption outlook and prices ad- vanced on these factors together with a good demand from manufac- turers and a recovery on the foreign markets.
WHEAT: Prices opened somewhat lower on the prevalling un- certainty with regard to the neutrality issue, European developments and the freight situation, but the statement of the..., Agricultural Council to the effect that a further rise in farm prices was desirable caused a sharp upward swing. Later, prices advanced further on good covering by shorts, reports of drought in some sections of the Belt and the firmness of the stook market,
