The fist promotions are announced of warrant, oficers of the executive branch who have been provisionally Belected for appointment as lieuten- ants. R.N.. in accordance with the scheme announced on March 11 last to help to all prospective vacancies for junior amloers because of Pleat expansion. The number la 20, and 11 is a matter of satisfaction to their Lordships, states, the new order, that they have found it possible to promote so many warrant officers to the rank of Leutenant on the general list.

The officers concerned, who appear. ed before AD Admiralty Selection Board, had held warrant rank from various dates between October 1, 1930, and April 1, 1838. The names are:-" E. James, In P. J.
