JAN-MARCH
The market opened slightly higher, with a better undertone due mainly to a more favourably interpretation of the political situation. New York bids were on a better basis.
An improvement of 1/18 mm prices was shown near the close.

The market continued to lack any fresh features, Export de- mand was very slow. Crop news is favourable. Further Southern selling and straddle selling on narrower Liverpool differences was noted. Heavy arrivals were in evidence. Some quarter's opinion holds that in view of the present favourable weather condi- tions, the movement of Cotton will go into normal channels as long as it exceeds the new loan price, and that only a short crop $3.70 will justify a further advance.
