Quiet and dull conditions prevailed throughout the day, thus responding to the lack of activity in the London and New York Rubber Exchanges.

The market was narrow and quiet. The early easiness attracted a moderate amount of price-fixing. Weather reports are still un- favourable. The off-take in Cotton goods has been much broader. The clarification of the domestic monetary system and the ap- proaching Government estimates, are the most important price in- centive.

The market presented a good appearance. Prices moved upward on good buying and covering. Demand from factories has still to $1280 improve. Negotiations in connexion with the automobile labour $3.80 troubles are believed to have taken a more favourable turn

The uncertainty over the appropriation legislation and the de- laying of the wheat-loan announcement caused hesitancy in this market. Private estimates place the U.S. wheat crop aa "follow: Winter wheat 527,000,000 bushels; Spring wheat 183,000,000. Weather condition in Canada is unfavourable. One of the leading grain ex- perts is of the opinion that in view of the recent continued reports of deterioration in three Prairie. Provinces, the present price-levels are attractive.
