Interport Response Not Strong:
Players Too Modest?
Only 19 Names Submitted To Association Thus Far
(By "Jack Hy'')
RAIN HAVING WASHED OUT ALL BOWLS LAST SATUR- DAY. I should like to say something this week about the res ponse shown by the various clubs in the Colony to the request" made by the Lawn Bowls Association for the names of players who will be willing (lf chosen) to go up to Shanghai in the near future, in connection with the Interport series, Judging by re- porta, one cannot say that the respouse has been overwhelm- inr. as of the 15-old clubs participating in the three divisions of the Bowls League only six have nominated players, and' of' the 250-odd individuals who disport themselves weekly on the creens only nineteen have sübmitted these mames.
I cannot believe that this is due to a lack of enthusiasm. on the part of bowlers who sometimes would go through fre and water for the sake of a game. Rather I think it is a sense of modesty that makes them fight shy of sending in their names to the Association. Of course, there are those who genuinely find it impossible to make the trip on account of business or other reasons. But bowlers who belong to the former category (that is, those who think that they are not good enough for the Interport) have still a chance of being selected for the trip to Shanghai as the Association wants some more names,
Of the matches down for this week-end, the one that will attract the most attention will be the Craigengower-Recreto 'A' tussle at Happy Valley. If ever the champions are to be checked at ali in their triumphal' march (they are the only club who have won

all thier matches to date) it will SOME CLUB TEAMS
be this Saturday.
The Craigengower green is re- pated to be one of the trickiest in the Colony, But in spite of this advantage, Craigengower will have to be at their very best to catch their opponents napping. The Portuguese have the knack of adapting themselves to strange greens. In quick time.
The match between the Civil Service C.. and the Indian R.C. also at the Valley may prove to be a close affair and though I give the advantage to the Indians I do so with little confidence in my judgment, remembering that n couple of weeks ago "he Civil Ser- vants sprung a surpaise on Cral- gengower.
The Kowloon C.G. will enter- tain the Police whom they should beat comfortably. The Kowloon Docks will meet Re- crelo 'B' at Hunghom. It will be recalled that these two teams were featured in a tie carlier in the season at King's Park, but at home the Dock- ers should be able to account for the Portuguese,
SECOND DIVISION
The Second Division Axtures are supposed to have been completed, but due to several postponements

League Water Polo Fight Has Sequel
SEX PLAYERS WARNED
There was a sequel Last evening to the recent abandonment of a water pole League match between the Chinese Hathing Club and the Victoria Recreation Club owing to a fight, when the Committee held a meeting at the V.R.C, and de- cided that the match be replayed at a date to be announced later and that the same referee and two additional linesmen will officiate.
The Committee found that Enrique. Chan, Yam Man-hong and Fung Kwok-wah, of the C.B.C., and A. J. Hussain, D. H. Taylor and R. Silva Netto, of the VB.C., were' guilty of mis- conduct and warned them that a repetition of a similar occur- rence will result in their sus- pension by the · Committee of the Water Polo Lesque.
