Extremely erratic conditions pre-steady but very quiet. After the valled in the local exchange marketaxing, the market was drm with during this morning, caused by the Indian inquiries at "1/18 over the denouncement of the American-rate but there was no business. Japanese Treaty of Commerce by Spot, 18-1/2d. the United States Government. Forward, 18-1/84. Both sellers and buyers were in the market but there were always buy- ers at higher levels. At present the market is showing, no real steadiness.

The market opened with prices unchanged for all deliveries as compared with Wednesday's closing quotations,
Throughout the session quiet, but steady conditions prevailed in sympathy with advices received from London and New York
Whilst dealers and speculators were disinclined to enter into fresh commitments to any larger extent, good enquiries "for"actuals" by consuming centres were in evidence, which, later in the day, result-" ed in a slight price-advance of 1/8 cent for "spot" Rubber, but rates for forward deliveries improved only by 1/16. |
It would appear that speculative activity was restrained due to less favourable political news, operators preferring to frat await any possible reaction on the London and New York Exchanges. In view of this fact further encouraging reports on American business- $1,80 expansion falled to stimulate sentiment in to-day's market... $3.30

-Prices eased on foreign selling and liquidation. Conditions at the close were irregular. Wall Street entered the market as a buyer, but in proportions too small to affect the trend of prices for any pro- longed period.
The export demand is showing a marked improvement.
NEW YORK RUBBER
The market declined on liquidation and switching. However, some-absorption was seen at the lower levels, with European interesta showing particular attention. Price declines at the close were very slight, with the tone of the market quiet.
CHICAGO WHEAT
Firm Liverpool cables and reports of heat from certain sections of the North-west were responsible for advancing prices. Commission houses were sizeable buyers."
