The price for Ready Bliver rose 1/8 yesterday to 18.3718 but the Forward rate dropped 1/8 to 17. 9/16. Silver advices reported America as having bought for cash to a small extent. The mar ket WILS quietly steady. Later India was a small buyer at 1/16 over the fixed rate for forward delivery. American Silver was quoted at 39 3/4 for Spot.
The London New York cross-rate was quoted at 468.12 New York London was quoted at 468.1/2

The market opened with prices unchanged for all deliveries as compared with Saturday's closing quotations."
Quiet conditions prevalled 'throughout the day due to the fact that the Rubber Exchanges in London and New York were closed on Saturday last as customary during the summer months."
Whilst there was a fair demand for "actuals," dealers and speculators preferred to maintain side-line positions, awaiting tür- ther developments before entering into fresh commitments.
Other than the European political uncertainty, there is little change in the statistical position underlying the favourable long term-price-outlook. Consumption in USA for the third quarter "la. variously estimated as from 110,000 to 120,000 tons which, if materi alized, would be regarded satisfactory In view of seasonal influences. Furthermore low inventories held by American manufacturers coupled with anticipations of fair business improvement during autumn seem to justify the. bellef held in Rubber-circles that a policy of conservative' accumulation should be followed.
