The visitors started off well when Goldman and Sander, beat. Minu and Razack 6-4 after the latter had led 3-1, and Furguson and Gould 6-2 beat Omar Rumjahn, and A. R. Kitchell by the same score. With 6-2 the Rumjahh Cousins winning their set against, Divett and Garrod 6-08-2, the first round found the visi- tors. 2-1 up-somewhat unexpected- ly.
When two of the three sets in the 3-8 second round had been played, 6-2 however, the Indians in their turn
led 3-2. The third set here was 4-6 between Divett and Garrod, and
Rumjahn and Kitchell. It was a strange set. The Club pair were at one stage 4-2 and 40-love up, but 1-8 were pulled back. They then led
5-4, but again the scores
were 6-6 levelled.
