PROPER USE OF

FREEDOM

A motion that the power of the Press has increased, to increasing and ought to be diminished was defeated by the casting vote of the chairman after a debate lasting 24 hours at the Gray's Inn Debating Society oently.

Mr. H. O. Thurp, proposing the motion, said the Press was often the enemy of society and forced facts out of unwilling people. The Press had a bad effect on interna- tional relations, which annoyed

foreign

countries, and it Was abusing its freedom. They only wanted It to use this freedom properly.
