The market opened with prices unchanged for all deliveries as compared with Monday's closing rates.
Quiet and dull conditions prevalled throughout the day, mainly due to the disinclination of operators to trade either way to any large extent. In view of this fact it was dificult to arrange busi- ness and such business as was recorded could only be done at a sacrifice..

Definite indications of business-recovery in USA. such as the substantial increase in Steel-mill operation for last week were ignor- ed to-day, although there is no doubt that ultimately further reports: of business revival will not fall to produce a stimulating effect upon activity. However, fair buying of "actuals" by consumers was a re- deeming feature.
Closing tone was quiet.

After a quiet opening, the market became steady. Prices advan- ced on good trade and commission house buying, whilst higher Bom- bay cables gave further support. Towards the close, however, there was a slight setback, caused by some hedge-selling, and the early 823.70 gains were partially pared off.

There was a "firm tone in the market at the opening. Later, it became quietly steady with chief interest centred on the automobile strike.
CHICAGO WHEAT
The market continued its upward trend after a quiet opening. Reports of unfavourable weather and further crop damage were the "principal factors.
