Washout Last Week: Weather Thus Far Unkind To Clubs
CRAIGENGOWER'S CHANCE TO AVENGE DEFEAT BY INDIANS By Jack Hy')
SATURDAY LAST WAS ANOTHER "BOYL-LESS" DAY. The heavy rain which fell on both Friday and Saturday saw to that.." The weather has certainly not been kind to lawn bowlers this season. The League should have advanced by now to its fourth week, but so far there have been, only two-Saturdays on which it was possible to carry out a full programme of matches.
On the very Saturday the League should have started, rain fel and all the matches arranged for that day, excepting one. had to be postponed, The exception was the match between Re- creio and KCC in the Third Division" which was played off though it looked as if it might rain at any moment and the ground was none too dry. This speaks volumes for the keenness of the bowlers concerned, but it shows a lack of consideration on the green and the groundsman.
As far as last Saturday was con-, should prove most interesting as cerned. there was no question the four leaders in the League who have not yet lost a single match will meet.
whatever of there being апу chance of playing bowls. The rain which fell continously the whole day and heavily, precluded that possibility:
I am sure all bowlers prefer It that way I mean, to know beyond the shadow of a doubt that play is impossible so that they can make other arrangements for their en-
the tertainment for
afternoon. rather than be torn by doubts and having to wait until the last minute only to be told that the game is off.
Craigenrower' C.C. will be at home to the Indian R.C. and the Kowloon C.C. will meet Recreio “A” (last year's cham- plons). Craigengower, will, na- turally, go all out for a win in order to efface the memory' of last year's defeat
