The market opened 1/8 of a cent lower for all deliveries as com- pared with Wednesday's closing rates.
Throughout, the session the market ruled quiet and dull. Despite the fact that demand for "spot" Rubber was active, both dealers and speculators preferred to remain on sidelines awaiting the impending quota-decision on the 18th instant.
Closing tone was quiet.
Preliminary shipments of Native and Estate Rubber from the Netherlands East Indies during April amounted to 28,577 tong as against 28,456 tons during March 1939.
The Unofficial Forecast of Domestic Malayan Rubber Exports for May 1939 is 24:298 tons as against an estimate of 30,000 tons in April
The Statistical Bulletin of the International Rubber Regulation Committee contained the following figures:

Silver prices rose 1/16 yesterday for both deliveries, the quotations being 20 1/8 for Ready and 19 15/10 for. Forward, Silver advices reported speculators. 1.5 having
said. India bought to a small ex- tent. A small business was done. The market was steady. American Silver was quoted at 42 3/4 for Spot.
The London/New York cross-rate was quoted at 488.21. New York! London was quoted at 468.3/16.

Further resistance was demonstrated by to-day's market, in spite of higher Liverpool cables. Measured by the price movements, trad- ing was very slow and confined to liquidation and slight speculative selling. However, some losses were recovered towards the close, and final prices were only slightly below the day's high levels,

The market continued to be dull and featureless. Very little trading was done, and price change were slight. The "quota" meet- lag will take place on the 16th instant.
CHICAGO WHEAT
Prices moved lower early in the session on account of liquidation on the easiness of the Winnipeg market. Later, the market streng- thened on the Chicago elevator Are, but this proved to be short- lived. The market became easter towards the close.
