SDyer prices dropped 1/16-yester- day for both deliveries, the quota- tions being 20 1/4 for Ready and 20 for Forward. Silver advices re- ported the market as being steady with some speculative selling. The Continent bought to a small extent. American Silver was quoted at 42 3/4 for Spot.
The London/New York cross-rate was quoted at 488.12. New York! London was quoted at 468.3/16.

The market opened 3/8 of a cent higher for all deliveries as com- pared with Wednesday's closing rates.
Reflecting steady conditions prevailing in London and New York the market ruled firmer early in the morning. Demand for "spot" Rubber by consuming centres was good, which likewise" induced fair buying interest in futures by dealers and speculators.
Later in the session, however, the higher price-level attracted some selling which mainly consisted of profit-taking. the marke: closing with a quiet undertone.

The market opened steady with higher initial prices. The ad- vance was caused by new buying and covering by short interests.. However, the tone was inclined to be easier towards the close, The rumour that the Subsidy Plan would be opposed was one factor. Washington inactivity tended to prevent the market from being active.

Prices advanced on good trade demand. A better business in- terest influenced a higher trend.
