The market opened 1/8 of a cent lower for all deliveries as compared with Friday's closing quotations.

Herr Hitler's speech had a favourable reaction on the London and New York markets, but the price-advance in New York could "not be maintained due to lack of support and good part of the earlier gains were lost again during the session. These conditions were reflected in Singapore where the "market continued to rule quiet throughout the session, dealers and speculators preferring to await further developments in London and New York before enter- ing into new engagements on a larger scale.

It would appear that in "the near future the market will be-" come increasingly subject, to the uncertainties surrounding the de- cision of the LR.R. Committee with regard to the export-quota for July/September at their meeting on May 16th. In view of this situation the market is not expected to move substantially higher in the meantime unless unforeseen favourable developments" will off- set this depressing factor

"Closing, tone was dull.

Market idle.
