The market opened 3/8 of a cent higher for all deliveries as com pared with Saturday's closing quotations.

Early in the morning the market rüled steady due to the very favourable American March consumption, which amounted to over, 50,000 tons, as well as to a more hopeful outlook in the European political situation.
There was good demand" for "spot" Rubber, which likewise in- Quenced fair buying."activities in futures for trace and speculative accounts.

Later in the session prices advanced by 1/8 cent for all de- liveries on persistent further buying, but the higher price-level at- tracted speculative selling which mainly consisted of proft-taking.
During the final trading-hour, however, the market lost this slight advance, closing with a quiet undertone.

Prices at the opening were higher than the previous day's clos- ing. Favourable advices from Liverpool and Bombay brought new trade buying and short covering, but market could not be called ac- tive Trading was very much restricted owing to Washington uncer- tainties. Prices declined slightly from the day's high levels towards those registered at laat the close, but they were better than Saturday's closing.
NEW YORK RUBBER
Opening prices were lower than last Saturday's closing due to
liquidation. Selling was influenced principally by fears of an increas-
ed quota. However, the undertone remained to be good.
