LAW ON SIDE OF TRUE LOVE
Marriage Inw in Scotland will be on the side of true love if the Marriage (Scotland) Bill, which prohibita Gretna and other irregular marriages, is passed.
Sex War Threatens Civil Service
What is described as a "sex war" is threatened in the Civil Service Clerical, Association, as the result of "attempts to femi- nize the Service." The "revolt is the outcome of the aggrega-. tion of men and women in posts, particularly in the Post Office Savings Bank Department.

Round About|
A lady entered one of the large banks the other morning. Step- ping to the semi-crowded counter. she deposited a 'straw basket on the gray marble slab, then dug inside a ponderous handbag for a bank book and papers.
"A clerk stepped up to the woman and offered assistance.
Standing beside the woman was a tall young man attired in grey flannels which matched his com plexion, his eyes were blood-shot furrowed. The and his brow gentleman did not look well,, and indeed he was not..
Now and then, as the woman transacted her business, the young man, who was leaning on his elbow, awaiting his turn, would glance at the clerk, the woman and at the clock on the wall. Buddenly. the movement of the lady's straw basket caught his eye. He started, locked intently, shivered and pass- ed his long fingers across blood- shot eyes. The basket, without assistance from anyone was mov- ing, and at intervals it jumped in the air.
Blowly and quietly he tapped the basket owner on the shoulder, and without a word pointed his finger at the moving basket. The woman looked at the man in a quizzical manner, then at the basket and returned to her busi- ness at hand, no word was spoken. The basket took another bounce on the marble counter; this was too much for the harassed man, he grabbed it and to his amaze- ment a yelp ensued-there was a small puppy in the basket.
However, it convinced the gentle- man that he did not havle 'em! Out of the bank, down the street and into a bar flew the dannel clad figure.
