Upon information received the Superintendent of Police searched a house in the Seifingshan district of this city, in the upper part of which, deserted by the inhabitants, he found certain flags, instruments, documents, and placards, from which it was shown that the apartments
were styled the Che Kungtong, Hall of Extreme Honesty, and recently occupied by one Long hinh lure, to render
service to the bind dreity, who assumed the title of General of a body of men in opposition to the Government of China.
The apartments being deserted,
as I have mentioned, no arrest was made.
In
consequence of this discovery I considered it right to take precautions for discouraging such illegal proceedings, and ensuring the peace of the Colony.
I therefore
caused a notice to be issued in the Chinese language.
