The market opened 1/8 of a cent higher for all deliveries as compared with Wednesday's closing rates.

In sympathy with advices received from London and New York steady, but quiet conditions prevailed throughout the day. Although a fair demand for "spot" Rubber was in evidence, speculative buying of futures was rather restricted despite favourable overnight, cable" from USA reporting on a continuance of business recovery, particu- larly in the Motorcar Industry.
It would appear that speculators, for the time being, are distn- $6.80 clined to enter into new engagements on a larger scale pending fur- ther developmentë, believing that it would be advisable to liquidate $1:54
at the present higher level of prices and reinstate their commitments
on easiness.
Closing tone was quiet, but steady.
