Mr. H.8. Rouse, Executive Engineer in charge of the: Drainage Office of the Publis Works Department, leaving for Home on 'retirement after 27 years' service In the Hong- kong Government,

Appointed land surveyor" in February, 1912, Mr. Rouse arrived hère at the end of the Kama month. At the close of the follow- ing year, he was made` assistant engineer of the Drainage once, P. W, D. and in 1921 he was ap pointed the Engineer in Charge of the General Works Office. 1930, he was made Executive Engi- neer in charge of the same office.

Mr. Rouse was at one tine Assis- täng Director of the Public Works. Mr. Rouse was a prominent figure in the field of sport and was a keen supporter of the Royal Hong- kong Yacht Club. He was a keen rugby player.

Mr. Rouse served for

R long period on the Committee of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and is also an official Justice of the Peace.
