Revised Form
Of Bye-Laws
An extraordinary meeting of the Kowloon Chess Club was held at the P insula Hotel yesterday); in the course of which resoltitions were passed that a revised form of rules and bye-laws be adopted and Issued to the members in printed form; that the committee consider the holding of a ladder tourna- ment; and that a vote of thanks be offered the special sub-com- mittee responsible for the revision of the rules and bye-lawa. This sub-committee comprises Messrs. J. 8. Smith, K. M. A, Barnett, and A. Kurrik
The President of the Club, the Rev. G. E. & Upsdell, was in the chair.
The Senior Championship of the Kowloon Chess Club is in its con- cluding stages, and D. E. de Car- valho is the winner with nine points out of a possible ten. A Kurrik is second with 51 points, and the other participants in the tournament, who have not con- cluded their games, are B. D. Evans, F. B. White, M. Oxford, and P. E. Pogodin,
B. S. Litvin won the Club Junior Championship with 6 points out of a possible 6. J. R. Hill is second with 3 points, C. Mitchell third with 2 points, and F. A. Fabel fourth with one point,

There will be two games of rugby football on the Club ground, Happy Valley, to-morrow, at 3 p.m., a Club side will play H.M.S. Birmingham and this game will be followed at 4.15 by one between the Hongkong Volunteer Defence Corps and the Army.

SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT The Rugby Football season will close next week with the annual Seven-a-side Tournament organis- ed by the Club, part proceeds of which are donated to local Service and Civilian Charities. Bixteen teams have entered and prelimin→ ary rounds, will be played of on Monday and Wednesday, March 6 and 8, leaving four quarter-Anal games. two semi-finals and the final to be decided on Saturday, March 11.
"The games on Monday and Wed- nesday will commence at 4.30 p.m., whilst. Saturday's play will start at 3 pm Admission to all Stands on Monday and Wednesday will be 50 cents and on Saturday the charge for the centre of the Covered Stand will be 31 with the remainder at 50 cents. Service men in uniform will be admitted at half-price,
This year's entries are fairly well matched and some close games will be seen. The Police have entered a strong: "A" team, which stands a good chance of winning the Tournament, but they will have stern opposition from the Fortress R.E.'s, winners of the Army Seven- a-side Tournament and the Hong- kong Bank team.
Many Club players are turning out for Hong and the Police, sides and their "A" saven is, in con- sequence rather weaker than in previous years, They also have the disadvantage of being without a regular scrum-half, as J. R. Hen derson injured himself in last Saturday's game and will not be playing any more Rugger this
season.
The draw for the Tournament will be published to-morrow.
