LONDON, FEBRUARY 28 (T/OCEAN)—THE NAVAL ESTIMATES published by the Admiralty. to-day reveal that England's naval expenditure for 1939 will be about 20 per cent. higher than last year. Appropriations total £153,264,000 against £130,196,000 in 1938-39. According to explanations by the First Lord of the Admiralty, Lord Stanhope, published simultaneously, £148,000,000 of the total Estimates will be expended exclusively for the Fleet while the rest will be used to cover pensions, Interest rates, etc.
