GOALS IN INTERPORT
Colony Too Good For Manila: Margin Of 4-1 Fair Result
Seven thousand people watched the Hongkong- ManNa football Interport at Causeway Bay on Sunday, and, the majority being Chinese, were thrilled and pleased to see Lee Wai-tong, soccer idol of China, score three of the goals that gave the Colony victory by a score of 4-1.
Closely marked by P. Urgate, who tried desperate- „ ly hard to keep in check a man admittedly far too good for him, Lee was completely successful in eluding the Manila centre-half's attentions and could have netted another goal or two had they been needed.
For the best part of the first half and even up to the first few minutes of the second period, Hongkong were fighting a keen, capable team, and it was not till Lee had completed his "hat-trick" that the visitors showed signs of cracking.
Thrills began early on, Hongkong! scoring in the first five minutes, comer. when Lee netted from 3 Right from the start it was a ter- rific pace, and this was maintained up to the second half, which, ar- rived without further score. <
Almost immediately after the re- sumption Gosano sent a lovely pass to Lee who made it two-nil,
Hongkong were-st forded to fight hard. Mabila pressing tooth and nall, and from an easy clear- ance. Reyes gained possession and reduced arrears for his side.
LEE'S THIRD
Play continued at a ding- dong rate for another ten min- utes, first one side and then the other being besieged. Then Lee again got possession, just out- side the penalty area, judged his shot exactly and sent in an unstoppable drive just as he was tackled by Urgate.

CIGARS OFFERED AT CUT PRICES
Stanley Gill, 33; cigar dealer, trading as the Havana Cigar Co., of Villiers-street, Strand, was con- victed at Bow-street recently of what Mr. Anthony Hawke, prosecut- ing, had described as "a new kind of fraud on the public."
After being convicted Gill was remanded in custody for inquiries. He was accused on several counts of obtaining money by false pre- tences.
"At a previous hearing Mr. Hawke I sold that if Gill's scheme had not beed nipped in the bud by the police it would doubtless have been' remarkably successful..
Some 50,000 circulars were gent. "out offering cigars for sale at pri- ces 30 per cent, under retail cost. Gill was arrested as he was leaving his once with 60 on 70 letters.
LETTERS RETURNED Det.-inspr. Capstick said that letters found in Gill's possession contained cheques and money orders for £175. Since his arrest hundreds and hundreds of letters. had been collected by the police and returned to the senders.
