In checking up on this story, the police traced. Pun's movements on the day of the report to discover that $95 had been spent by him of his uncle's money. The two stabs in the defendant's thigh, as the de- fendant later admitted, were self- inflicted with the aid of a pen- knife. He had been detained at the station, the police having rea- son to doubt his story, and these doubts being confirmed, he was charged.
