A number of American basket- bali players representing the Seattle AAU, who have just com- pleted a tour of the Philippines where they made clean sweep, of all their matches, arrived here in the sa. Empress of Russia, yea- terday.
During the 15-games series, the Américan cagers amazed an aggregate of 671 points as agalast 422 points for their opponents, This shows an average. Li 44 87 points per game.
Ed Loverich was the high point scorer of the series, totalling 151 for the 15 games or an average of 10.08 per game. Chuck Wagner Was next highest scorer, Ross Werner third and.. Jack Gannon fourth. The effective guarding of Ralph Cairney was
one of the features of the series.
One of the best basketball teams in the world, the Americans are. now on their way to the United States. Three matches had ori- ginally been arranged for them in the Colony, but as they had de- layed their departure from Manlin these arrangements were cancelled,

KILDARE POLO CUP COMPETITION
Fixed Defences And Stooges In Final
The Fixed Defences and the Stooges entered the final of the Kildare Cup polo competition Dn Wednesday. The former beat the H.E.S.R.A, by seven goals to two, and the latter defeated the United Services, 11-10.

The HKS.R.A. handicap of five goals to the Fixed Defences and were beaten by that margin, both teams scoring two during the game.

The match between the United Services and the Stooges was full
of excitement. Despite a handicap of 11 goals, the Services were only one behind when the game came to an end.
The final for the Cup, which is presented by Majors B, L. and J. H. de Robeck, will be played to- day at 4.15 pm, at the polo ground, Boundary Street.

One game in the first round of| the Colony Chess Championship was decided at the Gloucester Hotel yesterday, when To Yu-lau defeated E. Zimmern after 38 moves, the latter player resigning after the loss of three major pieces.
In another first round game, which was adjourned to a later; date after 40 moves had been played, A. Kurrik holds a one plece advantage over Dr. M. 0. Pflater.

The other first round tie was played earlier in the week, D. E dé Carvalho defeating B. 8. Kitvin, R. 8. Harrison drew a bye in the R. 8. Harrison drew a hye in the Drat round.
