Responding the better advices received from London and New York. the market opened 1/4 of a cent higher for all deliveries as compared with Saturday's closing quotations.
Throughout the day the market ruled quiet and dull, being. affected by the approaching IR.R.. Committee's meeting.
Activity was at a very low ebb, dealers and speculators being disinclined to operate.
"Subsequently prices registered a slight decline of 1/8 cent for all deliveries due to some speculative selling on a narrow market.

"Dealers' stocks in Straits settlements, together with stocks at the ports on January 31, 1939 amounted to 34,138. tons as compared with 29.75 tons at end of December 1938.
Total Imports of Rubber from outside British Malaya during January amounted to 19,049 tons as against 7,607 tons during. De- cember 1938.
