Steadier conditions prevalled throughout the session. However, only a moderate volume of business was transacted due to the fact that speculators and dealers preferred to maintain side-line positions until after the announcement of the permissible export quota for the second quarter of this year.
Later in the session prices sightly advanced by 1/8 cent for all forward options due to some trade-buying induced by the belief that the quota might, remain unchanged.

The average forecast of last week's stock of rubber in London and Liverpool shows a decrease of 950 tons.
NEW YORK COTTON
Trading to-day. on the whole, was dull and price movements were confined within narrow limits. At the opening, values were. unchanged, but soon receded. Traders were kept on side-lines, pend- ing the outcome of the various proposals regarding the 1939 crop programme. Uncertainty-caused hedge selling and liquidatig. The market looks likely to go lower.
NEW YORK RUBBER
The market opened quietly steady, with prices slightly higher.. Later, cominission house buying developed and values advanced ac- cordingly. Opinion is now leaning towards an unchanged quota and this-had a favourable effect on the market. At the close, the market was very steady, though values were slightly under their best.

A dull and quiet market. Unfavourable weather conditions con- tinued to be a market factor.
