In sympathy with advices received from London and New York the market opened 1/8 of a cent higher for all deliveries as com- pared with Wednesday's closing quotations.
Steady conditions prevailed during the day. Demand for "pot" Rubber by consuming countries was active, whilst fair buying in- terest in futures by dealers was in evidence due to reports of large Motorenr-sales in USA But speculators preferred to remain on side-lines, awaiting the quota announcement.
Subsequently prices advanced by 1/8 cent for spot and for, for- ward deliveries, whilst prices for April-June options moved up by 1/4 cent. However, the market lost this advance towards the close of the session.

It was announced that preliminary shipments of native and estate Rubber from the Dutch East Indies during January amounted to 39,272 tons of which 8,215 tons were on account of extra licences In 1938. Exporters' stocks of native Rubber on January 31 amount- ed to 14,846 tons.

Trading was quiet early in the session. with prices easier on Southern hedging and quication in sympathy with lower securities. Later values further declined on selling by commission houses' and mills.
