I called to tell you the result of the Reeman affair of to-day, and to say thank you if you think it necessary, I will defer

any presence

my journey to the other side of the island, though I shall do so at some

inconvenience.

When I left the Office I had directed the Office Usher, Jailor, to detain the Master of the "Reindeer"

until the fine should be paid, and to take the defendant to prison as soon as he saw that there came no

probability of the money being paid.

It seems that the Warder took

the defendant to the prison gate, but instead of going in, he walked

arm in arm with the Consul,
