INAUGURATION OF HONG LEAGUE LAST SUNDAY Large Crowd Watch High Scoring By Ladies
(By R.O.Y.)
A record crowd of softball fans turned out at King's Park, Last Sunday afternoon, to witness the impressive opening cere- mony staged by the local Hong League. Proceedings opened with a fanfare of trumpets as a fifty plece band, led by Frank Maxey, showed the way to sixteen Hong teams in a full uniform parade around the spacious Recreio cricket field.
Mr. L. R. Ildefonso. President at the local Soltball League. performed the traditional rite of pitching the Arst ball in the game in which the Netherlands Bank white-washed the Texaco Nick Beltrao and kads to win convincingly by 1 clear runs.
