I have looked into this case,
but am sorry.
I can
give no assistance in differing of it. The Colonial Treasury has had to advance £100, advanced out of salary to W Selby: and the British Treasury £14 4s 6d advanced to Mr Selby for his return - Which Sir H. Bowring notes the Imperial Treasury will have to repay.
There are no legal means of recovering anything. The Selby's agreement with the Colonial Agent, annulled, only binds him to repay advance of salary if he quit the colony: death is not mentioned.
