One evening. not so very long ago, a tall young lady attired in a ruby red velvet evening dress which was designed in the latest fashion of a billowing full skirt, narrow waist and a tight gathered bodice which had no sleeves or shoulder straps, was enjoying à delicious dinner with interludes of dancing. Her male escort was im- maculate in his dinner clothes.
The evening was progressing with galety arid good companion- ship for the two people when sud- denly, at the end of a dance, the young lady quickly asked her 'es- cort to put his arms about her. The other dancers, were leaving the floor and "the two remain. standing practically in the centre. The attending guests commenced to stare at the man and lady who were endeavouring to gather the lady's dress bodice about her. Fin- ally, with four hands clutching the upper section of her garment. they made their way to the hall- way and disappeared.
Was Vanity Mortified? No straps nor sleeves. says fashion, but not to have the boning in the garment snap and refuse to give support!
