TWO TEAMS MAKE DEBUT "BLACKOUT"
IN BADMINTON LEAGUE
Wanderers Lose To St. John's But Showed Good Promise
By The Jinx"
Scores are not always faiz indication of a match, and so it was in the "B" Division badminton tle between St. John's, champions, and the newly-formed Wanderers team at the Cathedral Hall last night.
The champions won by 1, and there was nothing in the scores of the games to Indicate a close struggle, yet the losers put up a much better show than appears on the face of it
(Wanderers)
The main reason why the Wan-, S. W. Liang and E. S. Ho derers, who were making their debut, lost so heavily was their in- consistency. In most of the earlier! games they got off to fine starts but just could not hold their lead.
Mang Sai-wah was their
· stendiest player, J. S. Ho their most brilliant. T. J. Ong, of whom much had been expected, develop ed inexplicable and inescapable trouble with his shoes carly on, and could not do himself justice, E. 8. Ho was good off and on, but C. Y. "Yung and B. L. Cheung, whille giving of their beat and puting over some occasional neat shots, were not up to standard.
lost to Kwok and Bevan 6-21 lost to Wilson and Smith 17-21 beat Kwok and Newman 24-21
V.R.C. v. CHUN WAH Chun Wah, another new, Clab.j also making their debut, proved too strong for the V.R.C.. but here again' scores did not give a fair indication of the play, The Fisher- Rumjahn'and UTHch-Xavier com- binations did quite well, winning
