Shanghai, October 28. Opposition has arisen among Foreign Office officials in Tokyo to the expected resumption of conversation for settlement of peading Anglo-Japanese issues, according to a, Tokyo report.
The conversations were begun several months ago between the former Foreign Minister, Gen. Kazushige Ugaki, and the British Am bassador, Bir Robert Craigle. Six separata conferences were held be: fore General Ugaki resigned, but very little progress towards a set tlèment of the 200-odd British claims is reported to have been made.
Upon his assumption of the Foreign Affairs portfolio, Premier Konoye let it be known that he would make no effort to continue the negotiations with Sir Robert Craigle, unless he was expressly requested to do so.
