CANTONESE SCORE
AGAINST JAPANESE
Invaders Driven Back To East Poklo
MANY SPIES ARRESTED
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT).

Canton, October 18. CANTONESE TROOPS THIS MORNING inflicted heavy casualties on the Japanese and drove them back east of Poklo on the north bank of the East River despite their repeated shelling of the Chinese positions and several air raids on Pokto and Tsengshing, which are practically in ruins.
Some confidence has bech regained here by the successes of the troops at the front. Reinforcements are moving up from here by lorries and tow-boats to Tsengshing. Mare Kwangsi troops arrived here today from Wuchow and will be dispatched to the front.
