The market opened with prices unchanged for all deliveries as compared with Wednesday's closing quotations,

Early in the morning the market ruled very quiet and dull due to the fact that the Rubber Exchange in New York was closed on Wednesday. Apart from some enquiries for "spot" Rubber there was very little interest displayed by dealers and speculators who preferred to awalt further developments before entering into fresh commit- ments.

"

Subsequently, however, the market encountered eaalness on re- ports received from London that Estates were treely offering part" of their 1939 production in London which, it is believed, might put the market on a lower level temporarily. Rather heavy speculative Jiquidation was responsible for a price-decline of 1/4 cent for all de- liveries. But even the lower price-level failed to attract buying to any larger extent.

After business having beer transacted as low as 29 cents for January-March positions and at correspondingly higher rates for more distant options, the market closed with a quiet undertone.
